[ALLEGEDLY. He stares at nothing for a few seconds, his chest rising and falling as he tries to think. Does he trust that? No. But it does help him ease up on that murdering plan.]

[He glares at her. She knows the reason he's so wound up, or she should: he's worried about her. He's terrified one of these nights he's gonna look away for two seconds and find her body, and she'll be number forty-three-- god, no, more than that. Forty-seven, if you include his brother and mother. His girlfriend. Maysilee. Just another person he'd let down and couldn't keep alive.

She doesn't get it. Or maybe she doesn't want to, and who could blame her? But shit like this gets his nerves humming, because it's shit like this that so quickly leads to corpses.

He exhales heavily, but finally lays back down. Shifts to make room for her, so she can rest against him again.]

What the hell are you gonna do to fight me, Katy-Kat, punch me in the arm?

[It's not quite what it should be, but it's an attempt, at least, quiet and rumbling.]

[She notes the glare, and she gets it but she also doesn't, in the same way that she knows him well enough by now, but she can't always relate or understand. He's paranoid, and not without reason. Katy doesn't wholly trust Edelgard herself. It's hard to trust most anyone these days, even though she knows she needs to.]

[She says it lazily as she settles against him, this time curling up against his side as she worms her way under his arm. She passes him the cigarette: a reward, but also, he could use it. Her clamshell is discarded off to the side for now.]

Edelgard can do the same thing Escha could, so hey, that's another role found. Do you know how Escha's role worked? That could be why Edelgard wanted to fuck me out of the blue last week.

No idea. Figure she had to say it sometime Saturday night, though. Maybe she figured if you got enough votes, she could step in and yank out outta it. Or sleep with you, some bullshit like that.

[He drags his fingers against her arm, savoring the simple comfort, as he sucks on that cigarette. He really can use it.]

So, you pick who you're checking up on well before trial. Edelgard's role likely works the same way. It'd be too useful if she got to choose in the moment. The demon's not gonna give us something that valuable.

Course not. Which means she was gunning for you all trial, because she knew she could step in at the last moment. Which woulda been a great strategy if she'd talked to anyone at all.

That said, I can see her logic. I don't agree, but I can see it, and I can't say I wouldn't have the mind to do the same if I were in her shoes... Though I'd make some edits.

I know what you mean. But I don't like the way she went about it, and I don't like that she picked you. And I don't have to be fair about it, or her.
